This one's from the Guild of Old Brampton Church
In 1266 Brampton would have been the settlement on the outskirts of Chesterfield that is now known as Old Brampton.

...and marching in to town!
On May 15th 1266, the Men of Brampton marched into Chesterfield on the day of the battle.
We know that several groups are going to "march" into town on May 15th 2016 - 750 years later.
Here is a map with the routes of three groups who are planning to "march" into town.
Let us know your route and we can add it to map. Maybe you'll meet up with others on the way!

Banners...
Here are some of the Guild Banners that you'll see on Sunday 15th May...
We're making banner holders so that you can leave your banner on display while you enjoy the event. Let us know if you're bringing a banner (info@chesterfield750.co.uk) so we know how many banner holders to make.

Commemorative Stone delivered to the Crooked Spire
On Saturday 23rd April the newly commissioned Commemorative Stone was delivered to the Crooked Spire where it is on display until its final setting in the church grounds.
Along with the Mayor and Mayoress, and DCC Councillor Keith Morgan and his wife Pat, two of our Guilds - The Guild of The Cock and Pynot and The Guild of Chesterfield Garland Dancers and Baldwin's Wake marked the occasion in bright sunshine.
Then we processed into New Square where more music and dancing livened up the morning for Town Centre shoppers. We handed out loads of leaflets and many people said "Oh, yes. I've heard about the Battle of Chesterfield already!" What a great reward for all our publicity (Thank you, Colin!) and the hard work of the whole committee.

Bell Ringing on Sunday 15th May
We're delighted that the Guild of Bellringers (a.k.a. the Derby Diocesan Association of Church Bellringers) will be ringing the bells of the Crooked Spire on Sunday 15th May
Here's what they have to say...
"The Guild of Bell Ringers will be attempting to ring a quarter peal of
Chesterfield Bob Major on the Crooked Spire bells between 2pm and 3pm.
This will involve 8 ringers concentrating on ringing a set pattern of
changes for over 45 minutes and requires a lot of skill and teamwork.
After 3pm the bells will continue to be rung, but in shorter pieces of
ringing! To find out more about ringing visit www.bellringing.org or
contact Sue via cgen2@derbyda.org.uk."
Fantastic!

A Medieval Cart
Here is our cart, on which we will bring Robert de Ferrers, 6th Earl of Derby, to justice on Sunday 15th May in Chesterfield's New Square.
A Trial by Combat will be re-enacted by the Swords of Mercia Re-enactment Group as de Ferrers hopes to prove his innocence on the charge of Rebellion against his lawful king, Henry III.

Saint George's Day Chesterfield 750 Event
We're coming into town on Saturday 23rd April to unveil the Chesterfield 750 Commemorative Stone.
This is part of the heritage legacy that will live on after the May 15th Pageant in New Square.
We want to have the opportunity of showing off the stone AND publicise the Pageant. The event will be attended by The Mayor and Mayoress of Chesterfield and by DCC Councillor Keith Morgan who provided money for the stone from the DCC Leadership Fund.
So at 10.00am on April 23rd there will be dancing and music* outside the Crooked Spire. The stone will be available for viewing and we'll be handing out leaflets.
Why not come along and meet us there?
