Another Update - Museum Stall on Sunday 15th

See here for our latest Update giving details of Chesterfield Museum's participation in Chesterfield 750.








At the Museum Stall in New Square on Sunday 15th, you'll be able to handle artefacts from the museum's collection of medieval history.

We're also delighted that, as a special feature for the day, the Museum itself will be open from 10:30 – 15:30.

Visitors can find out more about Chesterfield in medieval times as they are showing a new exhibition, “Cestrefeld – Medieval Town.” Don't forget that the museum's main exhibit is the 20' medieval builders' wheel!

Apples for the Apple Bobbing

We're very grateful to Ibbotsons for their donation of a box of apples

for us to use in the Apple Bobbing game.

You'll find all the children's game upstairs in the Assembly Rooms on Sunday 15th May.

Face to Face with the 1266 Protagonists

The wargame re-fight of the Battle of Chesterfield is just one of the attractions on offer on Sunday May 15th in New Square.

Here's a preview of some of the combatants.

Some of the leading Rebels...

John d'Ayville (Terror of Yorkshire) and Baldwin Wake, erstwhile Lord of Chesterfield.

Henry d'Ireton, John de Clinton and Henry de Hastings were also amongst the Rebels in Chesterfield that day.



As well as Henry of Almain, nephew to King Henry III (who would have carried the royal coat-of-arms),

Warin de Basingbourne, John de Balliol and Peter de Brus were other Royalist commanders.
